Preparing for your medical

Being prepared for your medical will make the process easier and quicker. Please have a look at the below to help guide you.

A. Preparation BEFORE your medical.

1. Register on CELLMA and pay the fee. If it is your first ever medical, or you would like to refresh the process before your next medical, click here. Please take note of the UK CAA reference number and keep it safe. Without you being registered and without your UK CAA reference number, we are unable to perform your medical. (see Useful UK CAA links).

2. Obtain a printout of your full historic record information from your GP (important for Class 2 initial medicals). Some information on how to do this here

3. If you have any medical conditions or are on longterm medication or have been given new diagnoses or treatments since the last medical, please email us with the details beforehand.

 

4. Please bring any specialist medical reports/letters with you, especially if you have a complex medical history.

 

5. Obtain a printout of your latest opticians report. If you had significant eye problems in the past, or wear high prescription spectacles please print this form, and take it to an opticians to fill out. If you have never been to an opticians, please make an appointment and bring their report with you.

 

6. Fill out the UK CAA mental health assessment form, print, and bring with you to the medical. Do not date or sign it.

 

7. Please inform us as soon as possible if you would like a chaperone, unless you booked through our online system (which prompts for chaperone request).

 

8. Familiarise yourself with the website, in particular our Resources section.

B. Preparation ON THE DAY of your medical.

  1. Bring a valid and in-date passport or photographic I.D.

  2. Ensure you have your UK CAA reference number with you.

  3. Bring your current/old medical, and any medicals from other authorities. 

  4. There is no requirement to fast but ensure you are well hydrated as this aids with urinalysis.

  5. Bring the documents in Section A with you including your current prescription glasses or lenses.

  6. There is free parking on site - once parked, make yourself known to reception and take a seat.
