UK CAA Class 2 Renewal/Revalidation Medical

£140

In the UK, revalidation is a Class 2 medical performed within 45 days before your current certificate expires, maintaining its existing validity period from the original expiry date, while renewal is a medical performed after the certificate has expired. Renewal exams may take longer and require additional tests compared to revalidation, and the validity period is calculated from the date of the renewal examination.

A UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Class 2 medical certificate allows a pilot to act as Pilot in Command (PIC) for a private pilot licence (PPL) in non-commercial operations, and for balloon (BPL) and sailplane (SPL) pilot licences. To obtain it, you must undergo a medical examination by a CAA-approved Aeromedical Examiner (AME).
